August cannot end soon enough.  Today the high was 97 and the blower on our wood furnace actually kicked on when the temperature in the chamber got hot enough.  It's unplugged now!

Some of you lucky ducks live in nice climates, so I just thought I'd give you a reason to be glad about your area.

It's been like an oven here all weekend.

Funny thing is it's been in the high 80's low 90's. What's been killing us here is the humidity. Example: Friday (in Knoxville, a close "big city" to me) the high was 90, and the maximum humidity was 87... for a heat index (according to this NOAA Heat Index Chart) of somewhere between 117 - 122

It's so still outside, in addition to the 90 degree heat. The air is simply not moving...

But this summer has not been as bad as last.

OMG Richard 87% humidity?

That's rough. We go around 60% when it's raining.
I hope the weather gets better for you!

I picked a bad week to be on vacation. At least my office is air conditioned.

Yup... outside was like a wet, sticky, oven.

ETA: Saturday was worse... 91 degrees and (max) 93% humidity... which gets a heat index between 126 and 132

Yep makes me mad that school starts in August because we have a pool membership but with school going on, we really don't get to use it much. Only day we can swim after school is Wednesdays and on the weekend.

Too hot for Hobby Lobby to Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas stuff out! When it is 100 degrees (literally, no exageration), I do not want to see 2-foot-tall nutcrackers!

I know what they really refer to... but I've always hated the word "nutcracker"... it puts a guy in mind of a very painful experience.

Really I just wanted to post something so I could see the following thread order:

How Hot is It?
Snow????? already *sobs* yes.....
