I think what worked for me the most was finally getting disgusted enough to stick with something. I don't look at it as a "diet", but a change in eating habits.

I used to be naturally super thin (think built like a 12 year old boy), then I got pregnant and after the baby was born I had a nice figure.
Then.....a horrible relationship that caused too much stress and I ate and ate and ate.

I finally dumped the a$$hole, but couldn't dump the weight.

sigh....now I struggle. I still think I can eat like I did in high school because I refuse to believe I don't have that awesome metabolism any more.

You had a fainting episode FRAED? Did you mention it here? Do you know what caused it?

Also, congrats on the weightloss after my 20 questions.

I did - I think it's in this thread somewhere.

Doctor said I fainted because I drank an icy slushy in the heat and the extreme difference in the two caused my heart to slow down, which caused me to faint.

I had blood work and an EKG and everything was normal. The doc isn't too concerned, says it happens a lot in heatwaves, but if it happens again, he's going to send me for tons of tests.

So I'm avoiding spending too much time in the sun and when I do, I let my drink sit and get a little warm before I drink it.

Thanks for the congrats!

I'm motivated to keep going.

wow, I must have missed. No idea that could cause someone to faint. I'm glad they think nothing serious is wrong, that darned slushy. I hope it was good for all of the trouble it put you through.

I'm at a little bit of a standstill on my weight but I can tell that my muscles are getting more toned as I am able to lift and carry stones with greater ease than I used to. Over the last 18 months I lost and kept off about 14 pounds very gradually with minor lifestyle changes. I know if I hit it more seriously, I could knock off the next 10 I want gone but I just don't have the motivation right now.

It was REALLY good! LOL! I said to my stepDD when we bought it "I really don't drink sugary drinks any more, so watch, I'll probably go into sugar shock or something..." Then a half hour later I pass out.

You're probably not losing pounds on the scale because you're gaining muscle, which is good! Keep it up!

FRAED, thanks for sharing your dieting experience. That's awesome that you have a lot of willpower and commitment on the diet. Congrats again!

As for me, I also try to do the portion control but it doesn't work out very well, hehe.

FRAED, stress and emotional eating would pile on the weight.

I used to enjoyed a lot of junk food. Now I am trying to eat healthier than before.

I know I will never be the same weight I was at 21, that was 50 lbs ago but I am trying to get my figure back where I want it. If it is a slightly large scale, I'm okay with that. Actually, take that back, at 21 I was pretty stick thin with a booty. I would like to get my waist a bit skinnier and my tummy flatter and keep the boobs and butt.

Wouldn't we al like to have a smaller waist?biggrin

I wasn't especially thin back then, so I'm about the same size as I was in my 20's. A couple of years ago I had plumped up a little, so over the course of two or three months I dropped 10 pounds.

When I decided to start seriously trying to lose weight, I took all my measurements.

I've lost three inches in the waist & hips and FOUR & A HALF in the boobs. I'm not overly well endowed to begin with....boy am I pi$$ed. LOL! angered.gif

I have not done my measurements but I know that my bras are a bit looser so that disappoints me not only because I wanted to keep them but I have probably $500+ in bras.

I have some nice ones I got from Victoria's Secret about a month before I got serious about losing weight. I'm still wearing them but probably not for much longer.

There are definitely some days I miss my barely a cup boobs that were perky. Heck, they were perky D cups, it was only when I hit DD they started to lose it. Now with me losing weight they are starting to deflate.

It's still 103 and the fireworks over the river don't start for two hours, but people are already picking out choice spots all over town and tailgating. The highway patrol had to park cruisers on the overpasses on the other side of the bridges and "No Parking" signs in the on and off ramps of all the highways leading to the bridges.
