Thanks Alice. No work is getting down here and I about to drink some chocolate milk. My surgeon's office just called and they are fuming that the other doctor made me do all the blood work today. It was suppose to get down Monday when I saw him. He'll be getting a phone call soon from my Surgeon. Man takes no crap

You ain't sh!tting Mary. I need to buy another bottle. I just found out the the surgery is going to take 6 hours. I warned my surgeon that he may need to slip me some Valium if my dad is there because he makes my blood pressure go up. Man doesn't shut the **** up.

He's been fighting going to assisted Living. We had to place Mama as she doesn't recognize Dad. Sis is trying to get our Bro removed as temporary guardian as she wants to keep spending their money and has Dad manipulated so....he's nuts. She was unhappy that Bro put her on a budget .... and I had to take his car keys so I've had to deal with much verbal abuse, threats, late night calls, etc..... And then Sis trying to get involved and take over... yeah, she hadn't even seen them in two years before the last month...

So the home agency orderd by the court committee (as in...you accept help at home or you can't stay at home...) was to start today. He went crazy...was combative even after I thought I'd calmed him down on the phone...he went after the male nurse and the cop, so he had to be taken in cuffs to the psych hospital. I hate that it went down this way but No One wanted to believe that he was worse than Mom in many ways and is basically crackers. He could put on a good act when he needs to...

So now he hopefully will get the help he needs. I do feel bad but somewhat relieved too.

We may have a better case to stop My sister's exploitation now too. but Oy.....

I'm hoping they will require him to go right to an assisted living once stabilized...fingers crossed. Thank God for Bro and DBF!

Happy....I never knew so many people that had been baker acted or had to baker act someone until I moved to florida....I swear to god. I don't know why that is!

I know at least 3 people personally besides my Dad, hmmmm.

That could be right. there are also alot of transient homeless peeps here as well, and I'm sure a high percentage have a MI. A dear friend was baker acted several times a few years back . She has 2 masters and was a master librarian, it was really sad. She's much better now but we had a few years of H.ell. Sad to say I could tell my Bro what was probably going to happen today once Dad got admitted, due to my experience with my friend.

Dad tricked a nurse into letting him call Bro a little while ago, then started ranting at him. he's paranoid and thinks we're all out to get him...especially Bro and I. Not a surprise.

Is the Baker Act specific to Florida? My sister used to live there and would refer to this quite often (interesting group of friends, I guess)

That sounds really tough Mary. I'm sorry you're having to deal with this.

We're going through some of this with DH's mom right now. It's extremely tough.

I hadn't heard the term baker act before. Around here it's just called a psych hold.

Thank you Froot. Dad called and is really scared. I told him we love him and to please get some rest....that it will be ok. But he still sounds so paranoid and helped up.....even drugged. I hope they can get him calmer. He thinks he"s in trouble...I told him they're just going to help him. Hopefully will get assessments from the doc soon. Thanks to you all...appreciate the support!

Oh Mary. That is an awful lot to deal with and I'm so sorry it had to go down that way, I really am.

I'm glad your dad is safe but I'm just really sorry it involved so much awfulness.

Mary for a very long time you've had to deal with your dad and watch both parents slowly slide. Honestly I can only imagine how hard that has been for you because so far I've been really lucky with that bit.

I'm hoping you don't feel guilty even though thats a natural emotion.

Hope everything went well for weveryone this weekend. Sunday was drama free and DBF, Good Buddy and Tallulah Bankhead kitty and I watched a scary Movie "the Inn Keepers" last night. Since Cookie crossed the bridge Mz. Bankhead has decided my Coworker is her new best friend. So cute :)

Good morning!

Thank you to all those thinking about us yesterday in court. It went as well as expected. The judge was fair and didn't give in to the XW trying to manipulate things her way. We really think that she wanted as much as (if not more) the state was getting when SS was in state custody.

Anybody have anything fun planned for this weekend?

I usually have good luck with bathing suits at Sears.

Although last year, they didn't have a very good selection and I ended up at JCPenney instead.

I'm doing the dreaded bathing suit shopping tonight too. Ugh. I am so pale I glow in the dark and that makes suits look worse IMO.
